Love knows no bounds, and we are committed to spreading that love to every member of the LGBTQ+ community and beyond.
So, keep reading to explore the various ways we are demonstrating our pride this month while involving the RDBK office dogs and cats in the festivities! From dressing up to frozen treats, here are some fun ways to celebrate Pride with your pets!
Remember to prioritize your pet's comfort and well-being throughout the celebrations. Not all pets enjoy dressing up or being in crowded places, so be mindful of their preferences and adjust the activities accordingly. Have a joyful and inclusive Pride celebration with your furry friend!
Furry and Fabulous: 5 Ways to Celebrate Pride with Your Pet
1. Dressing Up
Get your dog or cat in the pride mood with festive clothing or accessories. Add a cute pride bandana or bow tie with rainbow colours, the symbol of Pride month. You can also transform your dog or cat into a vibrant walking masterpiece without the need for any clothing. Canadian companies like OPAWZ have an array of colour options that will make your pet shine like a dazzling rainbow. Plus, their products are 100% vegan and cruelty-free, ensuring you can celebrate with a clear conscience.
2. Pride Themed Artwork
Create pride-themed artwork with your dog using dog-safe paint. Use washable body paints or finger paints designed for children to paint their paws. Let them step on cardstock to create colourful paw prints that can be used as decorations or to show your pride spirit.
3. Pride-Themed Frozen Treats
Celebrate Pride this month by making "Pride Frozen Treats" for your dog or cat. By incorporating the following vibrant and nutritious ingredients, you can create a colourful feast for your pet that not only satisfies their taste buds but also contributes to their overall well-being.
Red: Blend strawberries with water or bone broth for a red hue. Packed with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, strawberries support your pet's immune system and overall health.
Orange: Use 3P Naturals Tummy Tonic, made from whole pumpkin, for an orange shade. It promotes digestive regularity and adds nutrition to the mix.
Purple: Add fresh or frozen blueberries for a purple touch. Rich in antioxidants, fiber, and phytochemicals, they boost your pet's well-being.
Green: Include RDBK Veggie Boost, a blend of antioxidant-rich veggies, for a vibrant green. It provides essential phytonutrients and supports a healthy gut.
White: Add plain Greek yogurt for calcium and protein. It acts as a probiotic, promoting digestive health for your pet.
4. Pride Parades or Walks
Join Pride parades or walks in your city if they are available. In Vancouver, we will be joining the Pride Parade, which attracts over 100,000 attendees and features community groups, non-profit organizations, and businesses supporting the LGBTQAI+ communities. If your pet is comfortable in large crowds, bring them along or carry them in a backpack or sling.
Check out other Pride events in different cities. Edmonton Pride offers 50 events throughout June, including walking tours, pride services, and panel discussions. Gay Pride Toronto hosts one of Canada's largest celebrations, with a street festival, community fair, and an impressive parade.
If your pet isn't comfortable in large crowds, don't worry! You can still create a memorable experience by organizing a walk with a group of friends who share your enthusiasm for Pride. This way, you can enjoy the festivities together while ensuring your pet feels safe and comfortable.
5. Pride Themed Toys
Look for pet toys in rainbow colours or with LGBTQ+ symbols. You can find toys shaped like rainbow flags, unicorns, or hearts. Let your pet enjoy some playtime with these special toys.
